GPL reigning champions, Asante Kotoko have written officially to the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to withdraw from the upcoming Top Six competition.
The clubs management have planned to embark on a pre-season tour outside Ghana for the upcoming CAF Champions League despite the resignation of their head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Asante Kotoko confirmed their withdrawal from the competition on their social media handles stating, “We have this afternoon written officially to GHALCA, informing the welfare body of our decision not to partake in this year’s GHALCA Top Six tournament.
“Our decisiiswas purely based on sporting reasons. Thank you.”
GHALCA are yet to respond and to make replacement for the GPL giants as it is planned to boost the clubs for the upcoming season.
However, the Porcupine Warriors are bent of prepare their team adequately for the CAF Champions League and sees the trip to Europe as the adequate means of whipping his side’s just-ended form.
They were crowned as the winners of the just ended GPL with 67 points. Meanwhile, their bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak also won the FA Cup to register their name in the CAF Confederations Cup.
