Kumasi Asante will face Rail Club du Kadiogo in the CAF Champions preliminary round opener in Benin on Sunday.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has backed the Porcupines with 100,000 US dollars for the Champions League campaign as confirmed on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite Show.
Hon. Mustapha Ussif, the minister disclosed in a conversation with Enoch Worlanyo on Asempa FM that ministry has supported the GPL champions financially.
“Kotoko, who are representing us in the CAF Champions League have received GHS1 million from the ministry to support their campaign,” the Hon. Minister told Worlanyo.
He also explained that the GPL 2020/21 champions. Hearts of Oak received the same support last season when they played in CAF interclub competition.
“Last season, when Hearts of Oak were participating in Africa, we supported them with GHS1 million,” he added.
The Porcupines Warriors have arrived safely in Benin after leaving Ghana on Thursday morning through the Aflao border ahead of the encounter.
Kotoko will host the Burkinabé side in the second leg at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 16.
