Former Ashanti Gold tactician, David Duncan has been appointed as the new gaffer of Tarkwa-based Medeama Sporting Club ahead of the new season.
Duncan had been a regular critic of the two big sides in Ghana, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak as a coach.
Duncan, 58, signed a one-year deal with the club, with an option for a further year as a replacement for Umar Abdul Rabi.
Generally regarded as one of the bright stars among Ghanaian coaches, he has also gained a reputation for his straight-talking style and regular condemnation of referees every time his side has lost games.
Having finished 2nd with 56 points last season, the Yellow and Mauve side will be hoping to improve their performance and challenge for the Premier League title under David Duncan.
Duncan remains one of the brilliant and experienced coaches in the local scene, having coached Great Olympics, Sekondi Hasaacas and South African side Free State Stars as well.
However, Duncan and his boss, Akonnor were sacked by the Ghana Football Association after the country’s shaky start to the 2022 World Cup.
Medeama SC will open their betPawa Premier League campaign with an away against Legon Cities at the El-Wak Stadium on Friday.
