Reigning champions of the Ghana Premier League, Asante Kotoko defeated lower-tier outfit PAC Academy 2-0 in a test match on Saturday morning at Adako Jachie.
The Porcupine Warriors claimed the victory courtesy of youngsters Rocky Dwamena and Dickson Afoakwa.
The Porcupine Warriors tactician, Seydou Zerbo handed the starting berth to Cameroonian goalkeeper Moise Pouaty. Samuel Appiah, Kwadwo Appau, Maxwell Agyemang and Charles Owusu had the nod at the back.
In midfield were Rocky Dwamena, Nicholas Osei-Poku and Shadrack, with Dickson Afoakwa, Nicholas Mensah and Samuel Boateng leading the attack.
After several attempts by both sides, the first half ended goalless.
Before the start of the second half, Frederick Asare, Patrick Asmah, Sherif Mohammed, Emmanuel Sarkodie, and Georges Mfegue replaced Poauty, Charles Owusu, Maxwell Agyemang, Osei-Poku, and Samuel Boateng, respectively.
Teenager Rocky Dwamena opened the scoring early in the second half with a powerful strike to give Kotoko the lead.
Dickson Afoakwa increased Kotoko’s lead three minutes later.
Amankona, and Enoch Mortison were all introduced, but no goal was scored again.
Kotoko were scheduled to play King Faisal on Sunday afternoon in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League but the game has been postponed due to the suspension of the league due to a court injunction.
