Alhaji Grusah’s King Faisal finally claimed their first win of the season after beating Kotoku Royals. Goals from Adom Antwi and Abednego Tetteh helped the Inshallah Boys to grab an important 2-1 win over the newbies at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The Kumasi-based side were in search of their first Premier League win of the season after they had suffered five defeats in a row.
Adom Antwi showed remarkable composure when putting the hosts ahead in the 27th minute and Abednego extended their advantage early in the second half with a penalty before Marfo pulled one back for the Royals.
In Accra, Legon Cities handed Great Olympics their first defeat of the season.
The two Accra giants entered the game having enjoyed a descent start to the season.
Olympics headed into the game after picking a goal victory against struggling Medeama side on Monday but the Legon Cities who also suffered defeat to Aduana Stars looked stronger at their home grounds to the Dade Boys.
Michael Otu’s 42nd minute goal from the spot gave Maxwell Konadu’s side the lead before Mohammed Sulemana’s stunning finish.
Legon Cities have managed to cut the five points lead on the league table to three after today’s win at the El Wak Stadium in Accra.
Elsewhere, the Aliu Mahama Stadium witnessed a four-goal thrilling encounter between Tamale City and Berekum Chelsea.
The Tamale boys were hoping to claim their first win of the season but Chelsea scored a late minutes goal to wrap up the game with a 2-2 draw.
Kalou Ouattarra put Chelsea in the lead when he scored in 18th minute before the 30th minute equalizer from Raphael Essien.
Tamale City, however, came from behind to take the lead in the second half but the search for their first win failed when the visitors cancelled out Isaac Mensah’s 55th minute strike in the 90th minute.
The draw leaves the newly promoted side at the 17th position in the relegation zone.
The league continues with defending champions Asante Kotoko playing as guests to Medeama SC on Saturday while Accra Hearts of Oak battle Karela United at the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday as the competition takes a break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
