Fans of Accra Hearts of Oak are concerned about the number of players in camp as they prepare for the 2023 opener against Bechem United in the Betpawa Premier League.
Aside from Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Bechem United is one of Hearts of Oak’s significant rivals in the Ghanaian topflight.
Hearts of Oak certainly won’t be at full strength like how they played in the MTN FA Cup finals against Bechem United due to the shortage of players but will still look set for an intriguing encounter on Monday.
The Rainbows will miss several first-team players until the end of the CHAN tournament in February.
At the moment, Awako, Barnieh, Konadu Yiadom, and Denis Korsah are in camp with the Black Galaxies meanwhile, Junior Kaaba, Fatawu Mohammed, Mohammed Alhassan, and Daniel Kordie have been instructed to find a new club.
The majority of the aforementioned players have been part of Coach Slavko Matic’s winning team and the unbeaten soldiers.
However, the Hunters will approach this game with all intentions to redeem their image on the back of last season’s defeat in the MTN FA Cup finals and also to bounce back from the defeat they suffered in their last match to Kotoko which coincidentally was another MTN FA Cup match.
And without the services of these players, can the Rainbows hold on to their dominance? These players all played important roles to lift the team up again after the early exit from the Confederations Cup.
Hearts of Oak will welcome the Hunters with only 17 players. They are the only Premier League side with the least number of players in camp now.
Currently, they rank third on the GPL table with 16 points and a win on Monday will see them joining Aduana Stars at the top position.
