Ghana Premier League outfit Bechem United have officially announced the appointment of coach Francis Oti-Akenten as the club’s Technical Director “to strengthen the club’s technical direction”.
The one time Ghana FA Cup Champions announced the appointment of the former Ghana Football Association Technical Director on Thursday for unspecified period of time, and handed a dual role at the Bechem based club.
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of FRANCIS OTI-AKENTENG as the club’s new technical director to strengthen the club’s technical direction”, the club announced in a statement on Thursday.
The experienced football tactician heads to the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on a reported three-year deal with the Hunters, where he will serve in the capacities as the Technical Director as well as the Head coach of the club’s Youth Team.
“Oti-Akenteng will have the overall leadership and responsibility for the operations and strategy across all football functions, reinforcing the strong foundations already in place, mainly the club’s academy”, the statement added.
Until his recent appointment, Oti-Akenteng served as the head coach of Division Two league side Asikem FC in 2022 for a single season. Bechem United described his appointment as the club’s Technical Director as being “in line with the club’s directive and identity of putting in place a strong structure of well-organized transition of the youth team players into the senior team”.
Oti-Akenteng was appointed in 2006 by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the Head of the Technical unit of the GFA, before later promoted to FIFA level in 2009 as GFA Technical Director and Head of the Technical Centre for the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Prampram.
