Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Akambi has reacted to Richard Attah’s wife ‘Aki and Pawpaw’ comment.
The wife of the Rainbow goalkeeper, Joyce Attah in an explosive audio alleged that two unnamed bosses at the club ‘Aki and Pawpaw’ masterminded the sacking of former coach Samuel Boadu, and his husband’s absence from the posts.
It’s unclear what sparked the goalkeeper’s wife in motion after she detailed issues that have accounted for her husband’s no-show at the club since March 2022.
However, Alhaji Akambi, who has come under criticisms since the start of the season revealed Richard Attah’s reactions to that comment, stating the goalkeeper is not the one behind what his wife said.
“I heard the voice and I forwarded it to the husband. When I saw it I forwarded it to him, he called me back and he said wow Alhaji this Joyce [my wife].
“Immediately, he told me to just be on the phone. He called his wife and we made a conference call. He asked the lady ‘Joyce, what have you done? You’ve killed me’ that’s the word he used. ‘You have tarnished my image. Already there are some issues am struggling to deal with. Who sent you? Who asked you to do that? Those were the things he was just asking the wife. I would have said they planned it if he had called me later but it was a conference call.
“Women are so emotional. If you’ve stayed with them or staying with them you will know. There are a lot of things and I could say Attah is just new into it not like those who entered it over thirty to forty years ago. Women are different when you are leaving with them. Very delegate.
“There are some issues you as a man will not take it up but the way the women will take it up… At some point I just keep quiet, telling myself no, Attah couldn’t have gone to that level to tell the wife to go and do that but nobody can tell. I still think about it. Maybe she’s been on Hearts of Oak platforms. She’s been seeing what is going on.
“Later, Attah even told me an incident that happened during his time with the national team. It was some awards night and he was the best goalkeeper. He told me her wife wanted to go and receive the award on behalf of him but he told her not to go just because he has already chosen somebody to go. Yet, she went and took that thing. Attah did not authorize her to do that but she went for the award. You know how some women do their things. She thinks whatever she does is for the two of them,” Alhaji stated in an interview with Accra-based Original FM on Thursday morning.
