Head coach for FC Samartex, Annor Walker spoke to Ghanasportspage.com ahead of their game against Asante Kotoko.
They will host the Porcupine Warriors at the Nana Nsenkyire Sports Complex on Saturday in the BetPawa Premier League matchday 22.
Coach Annor Walker opened on their preparations as they welcome the Ghanaian champions to Samreboi.
The gaffer is however, incredibly optimistic to snatch victory ahead of the test.
FC Samartex recorded an impressive 1-0 win over leaders Aduana FC to improve their place in the League standings before they played out a goalless draw with Great Olympics in Accra.
Speaking ahead of the test, Coach Annor Walker said: “Seriously, It was a good preparations. We started preparations just after our match against Great Olympics because we know that it is not going to be an easy game because Kotoko too is not lying very well. For sometime now they’ve lost some matches and they wouldn’t like to lose against a baby team like FC Samartex. We will wrap up our preparations this morning before we move to camp for the game. We’ve had a good preparation.
How do you see Kotoko ahead of tomorrow’s game? “No one will take it easy when playing against Asante Kotoko even when it comes to continental matches you can’t take it easy when playing against them. Kotoko is a respected team and I have a respect for the team, which I’ve once played but am a coach now.
“Anytime I meet Kotoko I know that it will not be an easy game. I go in, I get myself well prepared before I meet them. Is not an easy game, I have a respect for them and I’m waiting for them in Samreboi.
Should we expect any result in favour of your team? “I will not joke with Kotoko and we are coming out seriously. To be honest, I will not come out with any result but I am telling you that at the end of the day I’m going to pick my three points from Samreboi here.
Are you hoping to beat them as you did to Aduana Stars? “Exactly, I’m assuring you,” he told Ghanasportspage.com.
FC Samartex have lost only once this season – a 3-0 defeat to Bibiani Gold Stars on Saturday, November 13, 2022 during the first round of the season.
The new entrants lost 2-1 to Asante Kotoko in the first round of the campaign at the Baba Yara Stadium and will be meeting the champions in Sameraboi for the first time in the history of the betPawa Premier League.
FC Samartex are 9th in the table with 30 points and have recorded three wins, one draw and one defeat in their last five matches.
