Accra Hearts of Oak had to settle for a point as they were held to a goalless draw by Dreams FC at Dawu Park.
The Phobians made the trip looking for back to back wins after last Wednesday’s victory but the hosts sat back and settled for the point.
Coach David had opted to make some changes. He dropped Amankwaa Baafi to the bench from the side that had beaten Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium, with Albert Diego Dieudonne Eonde leading the forward line with Obeng Junior.
Samuel Inkoom was the captain of the visitors. The ex-Basel FC defender teamed up in defense with Caleb Amankwah, Dennis Korsah and Konadu Yiadom.
It was a bit of an open start and a ding-dong affair for both sides.
Hearts looked to have made the breakthrough in the 29th minute when Linda Mtange powered a goal bound shot but missed the target narrowly.
However, the Rainbows were threatened in the 36th minute but Konadu Yiadom produced a master class defending to block the home side.
Coach David Ocloo’s side came out the more aggressive in the second period, with Dreams FC denying them chance to break the deadlock.
It was a pacier second half overall as both sides remained in the hunt for an opener but both teams defended well to ensure it remained all-square at the final whistle.
The draw meant Hearts of Oak missed the chance to move above Medeama SC and Bechem United into second – they are fourth on the league table with 39 points while Dreams FC sit 11th with 31 points.
Next stop, Hearts will return to home to host Nsoatreman FC on week 26 at the Accra Sports Stadium. Dreams FC will also travel to play King Faisal after the MTN FA Cup quarter final game against Legon Cities.
