The 2022/23 BetPawa Premier League is gradually getting to the business end of the season as the league has already entered week 25 but the Kumasi City derby outstanding league fixture will kick off this Wednesday with league Champions Asante Kotoko hosting their city rivals King Faisal at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
The Interim coach of the Porcupines, Abdulai Gazale has named the final 20-man squad for this tricky encounter. Center-back, Mubarik Yussif and goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim have returned to make Gazale’s list complete.
Danlad Ibrahim has returned to the team after returning from international duty with the Black Meteors in the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Coach Abdulai Gazale is also seeking to protect his unbeaten run in the League and the likes of Mohammed Alhassan, Maxwell Agyemang, Augustine Agyapong, Richard Boadu, Steven Mukwala, Enock Morrison and Richmond Lamptey are all included.
The match promises to be one of special interest to fans of both sides, considering the factors surrounding the fixture due to King Faisal having proved to be a thorn in the flesh of the Porcupine Warriors since last season but Kotoko beat them 3-0 in the first leg clash at the same venue.
The Matchday 21 fixture which was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 12, will pit the city rivals against each other at a very familiar ground, Kumasi.
League champions Asante Kotoko who put four past Real Tamale United last Sunday are in contention for the League title despite being six points behind leaders Aduana FC.
