The ‘Oseikrom’ derby is set as Ghanaian champions, Asante Kotoko take on King Faisal this evening at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in an outstanding league game in the BetPawa Premier League.
This fixture ended in a 3-0 win for Asante Kotoko during the first round. The Porcupine Warriors are firm favourites to win today’s clash.
“We are not going to joke with this match because whiles you are playing you look at the table. Currently we rank fifth and definitely if we are able to win that particular match we may shoot up to either the second position or the third position,” Coach Abdulai Gazale told StarTimes after last weekend’s massive win over RTU.
The game which was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 12, will kick off at 7:00pm today.
The clash promises to be exciting and hotly contested, and both teams will be looking to secure a crucial victory.
Coach Abdulai Gazale could stick closely to the team that beat RTU 4-0 but goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim is likely to start ahead of Frederick Asare after returning from international duty with the Black Meteors.
With defender Sheriff Mohammed not available for today’s game, Maxwell Agyemang is expected to join Mohammed Alhassan, Augustine Agyapong and Nicholas Osei-Bonsu in defense.
In midfield, the trio of Richard Boadu, Eric Zeze and Richmond Lamptey are expected to start once again.
Elsewhere, a stronger-looking attack could see Isaac Oppong, Steven Mukwala, and Matheus de Souza leading the line.
