Aduana Stars have extended their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League after beating struggling Great Olympics 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Ogya Boys began the day with a 3-point lead on the table but are now six points ahead with 47 points from 26 games.
After a goalless first half show, a 54th minute goal by Frank Owusu sealed victory for the league leaders.
Elsewhere, Tamale City produced a spectacular second-half comeback to win 3-2 against Bechem United.
The Hunters, on away turf, were leading 2-0 in 21 minutes after Hafiz Konkoni put them in control of the game with brace.
But the home side began their fightback with brilliant display. Mohammed Yahaya ensured the scoreline was 2-1 at 69th minute, before Collins Amoah Boateng scored in the 83rd minute to level.
Godfred Abban made it a done deal for the Tamale-based club by scoring in the 90th minute as second-place Bechem United fell to a disappointing 3-2 defeat at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
The defeat ended Coach Kassim Mingle’s four-game unbeaten run.
Currently, Bechem United rank second in the league table with 41 points, six points behind Aduana Stars. Tamale City, meanwhile, are out of the relegation zone. They now sit 13th with 31 points.
