Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker, Stephen Amankona has confirmed that Ghana Premier League side, Accra Hearts of Oak has contacted him for his services ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Asked about the rumours linking him to the Rainbows, the ex-GPL winner said: “Yes, some of their leaders including Samuel Inkoom have held talks with me,” he confirmed to Ghanasportspage.com.
Amanankona, however, expressed his desire to play for the 2020/21 champions.
“Accra Hearts of Oak is a big club and I’m ready. The most important thing is the deal. If the deal is good I will join them,” he added.
Amankonah returned to Berekum Chelsea in January following an unsuccessful spell at Asante Kotoko.
Before signing for the Porcupine Warriors two seasons ago, the 23-year-old attacker was instrumental for the Bibires in the Ghanaian top-flight during the 2020/21 season where he netted 10 goals in 28 matches and helped them to reach the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
His acquisition will boost the frontline of Accra Hearts of Oak after struggling in the just ended campaign.
Having held talks with the player, the Rainbows are to submit a bid to the Bibires to sign the attacker.
