Hon. Mustafa Yussif has urged the National Sports Authority (NSA) to prioritize creating a safe and welcoming environment for supporters attending Ghana Premier League games.
The Ghana Premier League has been hit by poor stadium attendance in recent years with clubs struggling to rake in the needed revenues from gate proceeds to sustain the clubs.
Additionally, some have pointed out the poor condition of match centers as contributing factors to the decline.
Addressing the issue at a recent sports thought leadership event hosted by Joy Sports and Nhyira Sports, Ussif urged the NSA to go beyond providing mere arenas for watching games.
He emphasized the importance of transforming the stadiums into family-friendly spaces, encouraging parents to bring their children for sports and leisure activities.
“To the National Sports Authority, entrusted with the care of our stadiums, I urge you to transform these venues into more than mere arenas for watching games,” he said as quoted by Footballghana.com.
“Let us create family-friendly spaces where parents can bring their children to engage in sports and leisure activities. Safety must be paramount, and the stadium experience should be perceived as an exciting picnic, not a chore.”
