Accra Hearts of Oak turned the corner in the betPawa Premier League with a stupendous win over champions Medeama SC at the Accra Sports stadium on Wednesday. The Phobians had gone four games without a win – but the team showed class on Wednesday.
The former League champions scored three first half goals in 34 minutes to down one of their bogey sides in the League – to move out of the relegation zone.
Godknows Dzakpasu scored in the 21st minute to bring Medeama SC into the game but Hamza Issah netted inside 34 minutes to extend Hearts of Oak’s lead. Hamza Issah who scored the equalizer against Bibiani Gold Stars on Saturday, stole the show with a brace – adding to Appiah Kubi’s 6th minute own goal.
After scoring an early goal in the 6th minute to unsettle Medeama SC, Hamza took full control of a long pass and meandered his way through the defence before smashing home the second goal in the 17th minute.
Issah got his team’s third and his second after getting on the end of a sweet team move to slot home in the 34th minute.
Hearts of Oak went into the break as the better side and kept their composure in the second half to seal victory.
They have now moved to the 13th position with nine points with a game in hand.
At the theatre of Dreams – Berekum Chelsea recovered from their setback against Nsoatreman FC to beat Dreams FC 2-0 at Dawu.
Two first half goals from Dramani Awuah (14th) and Stephen Amankona (32nd) were enough to give Berekum Chelsea a vital away win at Dawu.
Elsewhere at Abrankese- Nations FC recorded an impressive 4-0 win over Real Tamale United at the Dr. Kwame Kyei stadium. Asamoah Boateng Afriyie scored two quick fire goals in the opening thirty minutes to set the tone for an avalanche of goals.
Afriyie opened the scoring in the 15th minute before adding his second of the day inside 32 minutes.
Back from recess, Emmanuel Sarkodie (67) and Emmanuel Agyemang (84) added to the tally to wrap things up for Nations FC.
Meanwhile two-time champions Aduana FC recorded their third consecutive win in the League following a 4-2 win against Bofoakwa Tano.
Isaac Mintah scored his 6th and 7th goals of the season after netting a brace in the 55th and 70th minute mark. After a barren first half Aduana FC opened the scoring in the 55th minute. Emmanuel Obuobi added to the tally in the 61st minute – Mintah got on the scoresheet again inside 70 minute as Emmanuel Obuobi in the 74th minute.
With Aduana FC cruising to a 4-0 win, Bofoakwa Tano fought back to reduce the deficit. Dauda Saaka later scored twice in the 77th and 82nd minutes to take the game to 4-2
At Sameraboi – Emmanuel Mamah, Emmanuel Keyekeh and Michael Ephson scored in either half to give FC Samartex a 3-0 win over Legon Cities at Nana Nsenkyire Park.
Meanwhile Augustine Okrah and Emmanuel Owusu gave Bechem United a 2-1 win over Accra Great Olympics at Fosu Gyeabuor Park. Samuel Abbey-Quaye gave Olympics a lifeline in the closing stages of the game but it wasn’t enough as Bechem United held on to win yet another home game.
Finally, Karela United gave away an early lead to draw 1-1 with Bibiani Gold Stars at the Aliu Mahama stadium. Emmanuel Boakye Owusu scored first for Karela United inside 7minutes before Charles Gyamfi leveled matters in the 44th minute.
