Five local-based players have reportedly been named in the soon-to-be-announced Black Stars’ provisional 50-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghanasportpage.com understands there have been five local players included in the list as the technical team has submitted a 50-man provisional list to the Ghana Football Association.
At the moment, there is trending conversation about having a Ghana Premier League player in Ghana’s AFCON squad as many believe Asante Kotoko midfielder Richmond Lamptey deserves a place in the team.
The provisional squad is expected to be released in the coming days as there are few weeks left to the start of the tournament in Ivory Coast.
The 2023 AFCON is set to start on January 13 to February 11, 2024. Ghana have been paired with Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde in Group B.
