The aircraft carrying Ivorian giants Asec Mimosas’ was made to return to base after a few mini after landing at the Kumasi Airport over unavailability of a stairway driver.
In the video that has emerged online, Asec, who were on board in Ivorian Air, were spotted making a U-turn before a takeoff from the airport.
According to photojournalist Kofi Sika, who was at the airport, the driver of the stairways was said to have traveled to Accra.
In that regard, Asec was made to return. It is unclear whether they returned to Ivory Coast or flew to Accra.
Asec Mimosas’ visits was to honor the 2024 President’s Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The game is said to be played on March 5, 2024, with reports indicating that there will be no gate fees charged for the fixture.
Asante Kotoko have lost the last two editions to Hearts of Oak and hope to win it this time as they host the game on their favorite ground. The last time the Reds won the trophy dates back to 2019.
The President’s Cup is an annual one-off cup match organized by GHALCA to hounour the sitting president of Ghana. Kotoko are the most successful club since the inception of the Cup game, winning it 8 times. Hearts of Oak have won it 6 times.
