Former Asante Kotoko striker Andy Kumi has defended Kotoko coach Propsper Ogum over allegations of unfair treatment of players.
Ogum has been accused of not treating players he did not recommend or play a part in their signing fairly, therefore, sidelining the majority of them.
According to Andy Kumi, who suffered the same fate, he said rather entreated the players to keep a cool head, stating that every manager has different principles.
“Everyone has a way of doing things. The coach might not be getting what he expected from the players. So sometimes, some of them should control themselves in such situation”.
During his time under Ogum, he said has no information on why the manager refused to use him and, hence, held a tight lip on the issue.
“I will find it difficult to explain my case because as of now I still don’t know why I didn’t play even a season under him so I can’t say anything about that. Kumi told ghanasportspage.com
Regarding allegations that some players lost favour in the manager’s eye due to trooping in women’s at the team’s camp base, Kumi rubbished the claim.
“No. Those were just rumours. The truth is if I have a girlfriend, of course, she needs to visit me in camp.”
Andy Kumi, who played for Kotoko in the 2021/2022 GPL, season currently plays in Serbia.
He departed Kotoko upon the arrival of Prosper Ogum at the end of the season and was a victim of the manager’s overhauling.
He joined Radnickis Nis in 2023 before securing another move to Vrsac.
