West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus has playfully hinted that players emulating his iconic goal celebration may soon find themselves footing a tax bill for the privilege.
Since joining West Ham from Ajax Amsterdam, the 23-year-old has made a remarkable impact in the Premier League.
Kudus, who has been finding the net consistently, once again showcased his scoring prowess during West Ham’s recent 4-3 loss to Newcastle United.
His trademark celebration involves running to the advertising board facing the West Ham supporters, sitting on it, and folding his arms, a gesture that has gained attention on social media.
Reflecting on the popularity of his celebration, Kudus remarked, “I just thought about something out of the box, and then some other people followed it up. Now there’s a conversation about whose is better. I’ll have to come up with another juice and put more spices in the tin. It’s all about resting after scoring a goal.”
He added, “There’s no deeper meaning. I just see it as entertainment, something to make people happy and worth the ticket that they bought. I’m still just having fun in the playground…They’re allowed to do it. But soon, they will have to start paying taxes.”
Kudus has been a key contributor to West Ham’s success this season, being directly involved in 17 goals across all competitions, scoring 12 times, and providing five assists.
