Ben Nunoo Mensah, the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), has urged the leadership of Hearts of Oak to broaden fan ownership by facilitating more supporters to acquire shares in the club.
In an interview with Accra-based Radio Gold, Nunoo Mensah emphasized the pivotal role of supporters in the club’s activities and highlighted the need to reinvigorate fan ownership.
He proposed leveraging the existence of unsubscribed shares and those yet to be made available to involve fans more actively in the club’s ownership structure.
“The supporters play a crucial role in our present endeavors. There are shares still available for subscription or yet to be floated. Why not seize this moment, armed with the knowledge and awareness supporters now have about the club, and invite them to participate by floating these shares again?” he proposed.
Nunoo Mensah advocated for a systematic approach, suggesting the development of a clear plan for issuing shares and launching educational campaigns to enlighten supporters about the benefits of ownership.
“Let’s devise a roadmap for the issuance of shares and then embark on educating the supporters. With the right approach, I believe they will enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to invest in Accra Hearts of Oak,” he stated optimistically.
Expressing confidence in the fans’ commitment to the club, he envisioned a scenario where supporters would enthusiastically embrace the opportunity to invest in Accra Hearts of Oak.
“I am confident that, given what they’ve witnessed, the supporters will eagerly come forward to own Accra Hearts of Oak. Every club draws its strength from the community it serves,” he emphasized.
Recognizing the symbiotic relationship between clubs and their communities, Nunoo Mensah underscored the importance of fan participation in ensuring the enduring success of the club.
As Hearts of Oak prepares to face Medeama SC in their upcoming Matchday 25 clash at Akoon Park, Nunoo Mensah’s call for expanded fan ownership resonates, emphasizing the club’s connection with its supporters.
