Following a crisis meeting convened by the life patron of Asante Kotoko SC, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has been given the green light to continue his role.
The gathering, which took place at the Asantehene’s residence in Manhyia on Tuesday, April 18, brought together players, the technical team, and the Interim Management Committee (IMC) to address pressing concerns within the club.
With the team grappling with performance challenges, the decisions made during this crucial assembly are expected to shape the future of Asante Kotoko as they navigate through the Ghana Premier League.
Currently enduring a period of poor form, including just one win in their last seven matches, Asante Kotoko finds themselves languishing in 11th place on the league table with 33 points. Tensions escalated when a faction of supporters disrupted a training session, demanding the resignation of Coach Prosper Ogum and his technical team.
In response to these developments, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II intervened by convening the emergency meeting, ultimately deciding to allow Ogum and the IMC to continue their efforts to address the club’s challenges.
As Asante Kotoko seeks to regain momentum, they will focus on their upcoming Matchday 27 fixture against league leaders FC Samartex at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
