Kwame Opare Addo, the Communications Director of Ghanaian powerhouse Hearts of Oak, has shed light on the impending contract situation of midfielder Salifu Ibrahim as his current deal nears its end.
Ibrahim, 23, joined the Phobians from Eleven Wonders in 2021, but with his contract set to expire at the conclusion of the ongoing season, speculation abounds regarding his future.
Initial reports from local media suggested Ibrahim might opt against extending his tenure beyond June. However, Opare Addo’s recent interview has injected a glimmer of hope among Hearts of Oak faithful regarding a potential contract extension.
“We are still in talks with the player and his representatives, as and when everything is concluded, we will not hide it from anyone,” Opare Addo reassured fans.
“But I can confirm the club is very much interested so we are in serious discussion with him” he said.
Ibrahim played a pivotal role in Hearts of Oak’s conquest of the Ghana Premier League title in the 2021/22 season, ending an eleven-year trophy drought for the club. Additionally, he boasts a collection of trophies, including FA Cup and President Cup titles.
In the current season, Ibrahim has been a standout performer, notching two goals and providing nine assists in 28 appearances for the Phobians.
