Asante Kotoko faces possible expulsion from the Ghana Premier League for the 2024/25 season if they fail to establish a new board of directors.
The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Club Licensing regulations mandate that every club must have a functioning board. Without compliance, Kotoko’s license to compete will be revoked.
Previously, clubs failing to meet these requirements faced financial penalties, but the GFA has decided to enforce stricter measures starting next season, as required by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Additionally, clubs must maintain a Youth Team to align with both FA and CAF regulations.
If Asante Kotoko does not meet these regulations, they will be barred from all competitions next season.
Following the expiration of the mandate of the Dr. Kwame Kyei-led Board of Directors last year, the club has yet to establish a permanent administrative structure.
Since July 2023, the club has been managed by an Interim Management Committee (IMC) led by Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, with members including Dr. Kwesi Appiah, Prosper Ogum Narteh, and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi.
