After Hearts of Oak’s 2-0 triumph over Nations FC, coach Aboubakar Ouattara highlights the team’s aim to secure their Premier League status. The win, courtesy of goals by Kassim Cisse and Hamza Issah, revitalized Hearts’ position from 15th to 11th on the table, injecting hope for their remaining matches.

Ouattara, speaking to StarTimes, expressed contentment with the victory and emphasized the need to concentrate on the next challenge, a local derby against struggling Great Olympics.

“We got the three points, and that’s the important thing. Now, we are thinking about the next match,” he emphasized.

Despite the win, Ouattara acknowledged the hurdles faced, including injuries and a resilient Nations FC. He reiterated the team’s determination to survive, recognizing the invaluable support from the fans.

“The second half was challenging. We encountered some setbacks like injuries. Nations FC put up a good fight, but fortunately, we scored two early goals which worked in our favor. We tried to maintain possession, but it wasn’t easy.”

Asked about his satisfaction with his team’s performance, he explained, “They played for them (fans) but first of all, we are trying to survive because when you look at all these people (fans) coming to support us, it’s not easy. The family love their club, and that’s what we are coming together to try to save the family,” he explained.

Hearts of Oak’s upcoming matches include an away fixture against Great Olympics followed by a trip to Bechem United, concluding the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
