FC Samartex, the newly crowned champions of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League, will pocket a staggering GHC500,000 after their impressive campaign.
The Timber giants secured the title with a 2-0 win over Accra Lions in their final day game on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
The team celebrated their championship win with a special coronation match against Accra Lions at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex, where they emerged victorious with a 2-0 scoreline. Emmanuel Mamah scored a stunning goal in the 3rd minute, and Ebenezer Papa Ocran sealed the win with a brilliant goal in the 87th minute.
With this victory, Samartex finished the season with a total of 61 points from 34 games. The team was decorated with their medals at a colorful ceremony in Samreboi, which was filled with excitement and joy.
As part of their reward for winning the league title, Samartex will take home a massive GHC500,000 prize money. Accra Lions and Berekum Chelsea, who finished second and third respectively, will receive GHC200,000 and GHC100,000.
Samartex will also represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season, adding to their achievements.
