Ghana Football Association has cleared former Ashanti Gold FC coach Thomas Duah as a free person to involve himself in any Football related activity after serving his one year ban.
Ashantigold coach Thomas Duah was slapped with a one-year ban by the Ghana Football Association Disciplinary Committee over a match-fixing scandal.
On July 2021, an unfortunate incident happened when Ashantigold and Inter Allies clashed in the final round of the Ghana Premier League campaign. Hashim Musah, who is an Inter Allies centre-back confessed to scoring the two intentional own goals during the clash against Ashanti Gold. Musah came off the bench and scored two own goals in the final 12 minutes, leaving Inter Allies 7-0 down.
The defender claims he netted the two goals on purpose because he believes the score had been agreed in advance for betting purposes.
This has resulted to the demotion of Ashantigold to the Ghanaian third-tier league whereas some players and officials of the club have been banned.
Meanwhile, Ashantigold gaffer Thomas Duah was slapped with a 24-month ban in accordance with Article 34.5(d)(i) of the Ghana Premier League Regulations 2019.
On Tuesday, 4th June 2024, The Ghana Football Association wrote to Thomas Duah that his request has been approved and he is free to take part in any Football related activity. The GFA letter reads:
“We acknowledge received of letter requesting for clearance after serving the ban imposed on you per decision of the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association.
“The GFA wishes to inform you that, after serving your ban fully, you are now free to take part in any Football related activity”.
