Veteran Ghanaian coach, Joseph Emmanuel Sarpong has bemoaned the poor branding and state of the Ghana Premier League.
In a interview with Accra-based Mothers FM on Friday, the former Liberty Professionals trainer opened up on struggles some players face to survive due to the state of the league.
“What is professional about our league? We have to brand it well before we can call it a professional league.
“There’s nothing professional about the league because the salary is not good, the players buy their own boots. You have to wash your team manager’s car or pound fufu for them before you can get your chop money. I know what am talking about. The player will later move to Togo to play and is a whole lot,” Coach Sarpong stated.
The Ghana Premier League is now without a headline sponsor after betPawa abruptly announced an end to its headline sponsorship last year.
Also, StarTimes have also ended their marriage with the Ghana Football Association as broadcasting partners which comes as a surprise to the football fraternity.
