Retired Ghanaian striker, Eric Bekoe has revealed he was receiving less than 200 Ghana cedis as his salary at Asante Kotoko.
The former GPL star speaking in an interview with Mothers FM disclosed that the meagre salary did not affected his performance but he managed to lead team to win the 2007/08 league title, scoring 17 goals in 23 games for the Porcupine Warriors
Bekoe is undoubtedly one of the best players to have played for Kotoko.
Reacting to the recent slump of his former club, he said; “Check my performance at that time and guess my salary. I was not earning up to 200 cedis. I played only one season and I was not earning up to that despite my performance but some of us were always hungry and ready to play. We supported the team as fans before wearing the jersey,” Bekoe stated.
Asante Kotoko have faced a difficult campaigns after lifting the Ghana Premier League following their success in the Ghanaian top-flight in 2022.
The Porcupine Warriors finished sixth in the just ended 2023/24 Ghana Premier league season, leaving fans disgruntled with performances and results throughout the campaign.
