The Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) has successfully acquired the television rights to broadcast the Ghana Premier League.
GTV Sports+, a subsidiary of GBC, will air the Ghana Premier League matches for the next five seasons following a successful agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA). This deal marks a significant partnership between the two entities as GTV Sports+ becomes the exclusive broadcaster for the nation’s top football league.
After the expiration of the GFA’s previous deal with StarTimes last month, the football governing body reopened the bidding process for interested media houses. GTV Sports+ emerged victorious in the competitive bidding, offering the best proposal among several contenders.
The agreement, worth $2 million USD, covers the broadcasting rights for both the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup, ensuring that fans across the country can enjoy comprehensive coverage of these competitions.
The formal signing of the five-year deal is expected soon, solidifying GTV Sports+ as the official home of Ghana’s premier football competitions.
