The Ghanaian national football team, the Black Stars, is set to regroup for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after their successful outings in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June, where they secured consecutive wins against Mali and the Central African Republic.
Players are expected to arrive by the end of this week or early next week to begin preparations for their AFCON campaign. The journey to qualify for the next AFCON tournament is expected to unfold over the next three international windows.
Head coach Otto Addo has maintained the core of his squad, with key players such as Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku all included. Notable returns include Inaki Williams and Majeed Ashimeru, both of whom missed the previous games. Asante Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Frederick Asare, remains the only home-based player in the squad.
However, team captain Andre Ayew might miss out again, as he is yet to secure a new club.
The Black Stars will kick off their 2025 AFCON qualifying campaign against Angola on Thursday, September 5, at the Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a match against Niger four days later.
