Hearts of Oak are set to kick off their 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign with a crucial home fixture against newly-promoted Basake Holy Stars on Sunday, 8th September 2024.

The match will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 15:00 GMT (3:00 pm local time).The Phobians are eager to turn a new page after narrowly avoiding relegation on the final day of the 2023-24 season.

They will be looking to build on their early season momentum and secure their first win of the new campaign at home.Last season, Hearts of Oak struggled at home, finishing as one of the weakest home sides despite a positive result in their opening fixture against Nsoatreman FC.

This season, they aim to restore their formidable home advantage and get off to a strong start against Basake Holy Stars, who are experiencing top-flight football for the first time.Basake Holy Stars, having won Zone Two of the Access Bank Division One League, are not expected to be easy opponents. The newly-promoted side will bring fresh energy and determination as they aim to make a mark in the Premier League.

Hearts of Oak, under the guidance of coach Aboubakar Ouattara, have undergone significant changes since narrowly escaping relegation.

The squad has been revamped with several new signings and the departure of key players like Salifu Ibrahim, Issah Kuka, Glid Otanga, Linda Mtange, and Richmond Ayi.

However, the team will feature new talents including Yahaya Adraman, Kwabena Boateng, Mawuli Wayo, Ramzy Yussif, Asamoah Boateng Afriyie, Micheal Awuah Mensah, Benjamin Asare, Samuel Amofa, and last season’s top scorer, Hamza Issah. Other notable players include Raphael Amponsah, Yaw Amankwaah Baafi, Isaac Frimpong, Martin Marikari, Kassim Cisse, Kelvin Osei Asibey, and David Oppong Afrane.

Basake Holy Stars will rely on their standout players Abdul Hussein Bashiru, Gabriel Appiah, Francis Oteng, Andrews Nana, Prince Tweneboah, Abubakar Konda Adams, Abdul Adams, Francis Adjei, Prince Opoku, Daniel Adjei, Ben Sidebe, and Sylvester Simba to challenge Hearts of Oak.

With both teams looking to make an impact, Sunday’s clash promises to be an exciting start to the new Ghana Premier League season.
