Former Ghana youth international, Bright Addae has revealed that determination was the secret behind their success at the 2009 World U-20 Championship in Egypt.
The Black Satellites, led by Coach Sellas Tetteh made history by becoming the first African side to lift the title aftet beating Brazil.
Despite being reduced to 10 men early in the game, the West African side held to win against the South American heavyweights on penalties to win the competition for the first time.
Addae, who was an integral membe of the team sharing memories of their journey after 15 years, has attributed their success to determination.
“I am happy to be part of the World Cup winning team. The journey wasn’t easy but we were determined to do something for our country. The determination in camp showed how prepared we were to do something for Ghana and through that we brought the trophy home,” he told Accra-based Mothers FM during an interview on Mother Ghana Sports Show.
