Former Ghana youth star, Bright Addae has bemoaned the poor performance of the senior national soccer team, the Black Stars in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers.
The four-time African champions have struggled to pick a win in four games, having recorded two defeats and two draws.
Otto Addo’s side needed a crucial victory in their fourth Group F clash against Sudan in Libya to keep their qualification hopes alive after playing out a goalless draw in Accra. However, the team fell short, allowing the North African side to score twice and leaving Ghana in a precarious position.
The loss sees Ghana sitting third in the group standings, with their chances of making it to AFCON 2025 hanging by a thread.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Mothers FM, Addae said: “I feel so bad because the boys are good when playing for their clubs but the spirit is down.
“The spirit of the Black Stars is down because this is not what we saw during Stephen Appiah and Asamoah Gyan’s era. They lack that spirit. The work is hard but people might think that they are not committed. I think the leaders must do the right thing so that team can pick back its shape,” he stated.
