Aduana Stars have sacked their head coach, Yaw Acheampong, amid a challenging start to their 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign. The club, currently battling to stay above the relegation zone, is expected to make an official announcement within hours.
The decision comes as Aduana Stars sit 14th in the league table with just 12 points from 12 matches. The team has managed only two wins this season, alongside six draws and four losses, leaving them one point above the drop zone.
Acheampong, 51, was appointed head coach in August 2023, bringing with him experience from stints at Medeama, Elmina Sharks, and Eleven Wonders. However, his tenure at Aduana has been far from successful, with the team struggling for consistency and results.
Sunday’s 2-0 home defeat to Asante Kotoko at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park appeared to be the final straw, prompting the club’s management to part ways with the coach. In the interim, assistant coach Paul Tandoh has been tasked with leading the team while the club begins its search for a permanent replacement.
Aduana Stars will be hoping for a swift turnaround as they aim to avoid the drop in what has been a highly competitive league campaign.
