The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council has confirmed that Otto Addo will remain as head coach of the Black Stars, following a meeting on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
This decision comes despite the team’s underwhelming performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers. As the Black Stars prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, which will kick off in March 2024, the GFA has chosen to continue with Addo at the helm, despite mounting public pressure and calls for his dismissal. Ghana’s AFCON qualifying campaign ended in disappointment, with the team finishing bottom of Group F.
The Black Stars lost three matches, drew three, and failed to secure a win, ultimately failing to qualify for the tournament for the first time in 20 years.
While many Ghanaians, including key figures in the sports community, have called for a managerial change, the GFA is determined to keep Otto Addo in charge for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the team to success.
