Ghanaian midfielder Enoch Morrison has disclosed how he came close to joining Accra Hearts of Oak before sealing a move to Kenyan giants Gor Mahia FC.
Speaking with Ghana Sports Page, Morrison revealed that he was on the verge of signing with Hearts of Oak but a late offer from Gor Mahia changed his course.
“For Hearts of Oak, I almost joined them but the day they presented the deal, that was when I got this (Gor Mahia FC) contract,” Morrison said.
The former King Faisal man recounted how he was even present in Hearts’ dressing room during their 2024 Democracy Cup match against Asante Kotoko, further indicating how close he was to committing to the Phobians.
“I was invited to the dressing room during Hearts’ game against Kotoko in the Democracy Cup match. I was supposed to sign the contract the next day, but I had a new deal on my way home. So I called the Hearts coach and informed him, and he agreed that I should accept the Gor Mahia deal.”
The 24-year-old joined the Kenyan champions in 2024 on a free transfer after his contract with Asante Kotoko ran out after the 2023/2024 Ghan Premier League season.
His departure from Ghana football to explore new opportunities in East Africa adds to the growing trend of Ghanaian players seeking opportunities beyond the country’s domestic league.
