Asante Kotoko have announced that interim head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has stepped down from his role with immediate effect.
The manager went AWOL and has not resumed his duties since a 1-2 home defeat to Samartex on April 7, 2026.
According to a club statement, Owusu cited the “greatest interest of the club” as the reason behind his decision to resign.
His departure brings an abrupt end to his tenure after overseeing the team during a crucial phase of the season, taking over from Abdul Karim Zito who was axed in February.
Management expressed appreciation for his contribution, praising his service, dedication, and commitment during his time in charge, while wishing him success in his future endeavours.
Prince Yaw Owusu won 2 games, drew 2 and lost 4 in the seven games he managed during his short spell.
In the meantime, Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng has been appointed to take charge of the team on an interim basis for the remainder of the campaign.
The club added that further arrangements regarding the technical bench will be communicated in due course, as they look to stabilise the team heading into the final stretch of the season.
