Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed strong confidence in newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, declaring that the Portuguese tactician could earn a chieftaincy title if he succeeds with the national team.
The Minister made the remarks while officially welcoming Queiroz, presenting him with a traditional Fugu as a symbol of Ghanaian culture and unity.
“The coach will do so well with us that we’ll make him a chief,” Adams said, underlining the high expectations placed on the experienced manager ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
The symbolic gesture of gifting the Fugu reflects Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and is often used to honour distinguished guests. It also signals the government’s support for Queiroz as he begins his tenure with the Black Stars.
Queiroz, who boasts extensive international coaching experience, has been tasked with revitalizing Ghana’s senior national team and leading them to a strong showing at the upcoming global tournament.
His appointment is part of a broader restructuring effort by the Ghana Football Association aimed at restoring the Black Stars’ competitiveness on the international stage.
With backing from both government and football authorities, expectations are high that Queiroz can guide Ghana to success and potentially etch his name into Ghana’s history.
