Black Starlets head coach, Prosper Ogum, says his side are fully focused and motivated ahead of their opening match against Algeria at the TotalEnergies CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Ghana will begin their Group D campaign on Thursday, May 14, in what is expected to be a crucial opening fixture in a highly competitive group that also features defending champions Senegal and South Africa.
Speaking ahead of the game, Ogum expressed confidence in his team’s preparation and mentality.
“The mood in camp is very positive and focused. The players understand the importance of representing Ghana at this level and they have shown great commitment throughout our preparations,” he told CAF Media.
The coach revealed that the technical team has worked extensively on all aspects of the team’s development ahead of the tournament.
“We have worked very hard physically, tactically and mentally, and I believe the team is ready to compete,” Ogum added.
He further stressed the players’ determination to begin the tournament strongly and make the nation proud.
“The boys are motivated and eager to make Ghana proud in our opening game against Algeria.”
The Black Starlets will be aiming for a positive start as they seek to advance from one of the tournament’s toughest groups as they seek qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026.
