Black Stars goalkeeping coach Daniel Gasper says he is extremely pleased with how the goalkeeping department is developing for the world Cup with specifically their readiness for England clash.
Ghana will take on European giants England on Tuesday, June 22 in Boston which marks their Group L second game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament.
The much talked about fixture, is expected to highlight the defense and attack of both teams with the two sides gunning for Group L top spot having all secured victories in their Group opener. Ghana stunned Panama 1-0, whiles England humbled Croatia 4-2 to make a case for their arrival with experienced gaffer Thomas Tuchel.
Speaking to Ghana FA website, Gasper said all four goalkeepers will be ready for the physicality and technical challenge of England on Monday. Insisting, every piece is considered for the crunchy encounter without leaving room for anything.
“The challenge we give the goalkeepers is: wake up the next day better than the day before. They’ve responded extremely well. We try to be creative with our activities but make them match-related for each opponent. Panama is different to England”
“England will be different to Croatia. So we do our analysis, find their dangerous players and attacking patterns, and incorporate that into training”.
Gasper speaking on the England team said; “Obviously, England is one of the best teams in the world. They have certain characteristics and a style of play, and we’re exposing our goalkeepers to those conditions. We’re preparing them not only for the timing of catching and boxing, but also the physical challenge they’ll face. I have no doubt our goalkeepers are prepared for all the conditions against England”
With several goalkeepers clinching Most Valuable Player award with record saves of seven, nine and fifteen, it will be necessary Ghana’s shot stoppers come alive especially against the Three Lions on Tuesday evening.
Should Ghana avoid a defeat against England, guarantees them a place in the round of 32 for the first time since 2010 when the team booked a quarter final spot but got eliminated by Uruguay on penalties.
