Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to make a key change to his starting lineup for Tuesday’s showdown against England, with Thomas Partey set to return to the side after missing the opening win over Panama.
The experienced midfielder is likely to partner rising star Caleb Yirenkyi in a double pivot as Queiroz looks to strengthen the Black Stars’ midfield against the Three Lions.
Benjamin Asare is tipped to retain his place in goal despite Lawrence Ati-Zigi returning to training after the injury he sustained against Panama.
In defence, Marvin Senaya is expected to start at right-back, with Jerome Opoku and Jonas Adjetey continuing their partnership in central defence. Gideon Mensah is likely to occupy the left-back position.
Further forward, Fatawu Issahaku and Kamaldeen Sulemana are expected to provide pace and creativity from the wings, while captain Jordan Ayew could operate just behind striker Antoine Semenyo.
The expected return of Partey would provide a major boost for Ghana as they prepare to face an England side that defeated Croatia 4-2 in their opening match. With both teams on three points, victory in Foxborough could put either side in a commanding position to qualify for the knockout stage.
The game is scheduled for 8:00 Ghana time.
