Madam Ewura Efua Brobbey, mother of Black Stars defender Derrick Luckassen and Dutch national team player Brian Brobbey, expressed immense joy over her sons’ participation in the World Cup. In an interview with Richmond K. Entsie on Accra-based Mothers 102.7FM and Mothers TV, she reflected on the remarkable achievements of her sons.
“We were very excited because we never thought that God would do something like this. We give thanks to Him. What he has done is amazing,” she stated, highlighting the pride she feels as a mother.
Brian Brobbey represented the Netherlands and made a significant impact by scoring three goals, while Derrick Luckassen contributed to Ghana’s efforts with one goal in two games.

Madam Brobbey acknowledged the disappointment felt by both nations after their early exit from the tournament but remained grateful.
“We were very sad that both nations suffered early elimination. They wished the teams would have gone far, but they are okay. In all, we give thanks to God Almighty,” she said.
Both Ghana and the Netherlands were eliminated in the Round of 32, with Ghana’s journey ending after a 1-0 defeat to Colombia, while the Netherlands, a finalist in 2010, faced a shocking exit at the hands of Morocco, losing 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
