The Black Maidens of Ghana have officially secured their place in the upcoming U17 Women’s World Cup, set to take place in Morocco. This achievement comes after a thrilling encounter against the Senegal U17 national team, held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
In the second leg of the qualifying matches, the teams ended with a 1-1 draw in Accra, mirroring the scoreline from the first leg in Senegal. With an aggregate score of 2-2, Ghana triumphed in a nail-biting penalty shootout, winning 7-6 and clinching their spot in the prestigious tournament.
The match saw Senegal take an early lead in the 25th minute, but Ghana quickly retaliated, with team captain Seidatu netting an equalizer just before half-time, at the 44th minute.

Ghana is set to compete in Group C alongside formidable teams including Canada, Brazil, and Norway. The U17 Women’s World Cup will feature 24 teams from across 6 confederations, with action kicking off from October 17 to November 7, 2026. This upcoming appearance marks Ghana’s 7th participation in the tournament.
