Black Stars Management Committee member Moses Armah has revealed that every member of the committee received $50,000 as an appearance fee for Ghana’s participation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Speaking in an interview with Medeama FM, Armah disclosed that committee members received half of the appearance fee paid to the players and were not entitled to additional allowances or winning bonuses.
“Members of the Black Stars Management Committee received only half of the players’ appearance fee, meaning each of us received $50,000. There was no per diem or winning bonus for the committee,” Armah said.
He also revealed that he used part of his appearance fee to support pastors who prayed for him and the Black Stars throughout the tournament.
The disclosure comes after Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams announced in October 2025 that members of the Black Stars Management Committee would receive financial rewards for helping the team qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, it remains unclear whether the $50,000 appearance fee formed part of that promised reward package or was a separate payment.
Armah’s revelation also differs from the 2022 FIFA World Cup, when Black Stars Management Committee member Alhaji Karim Grusah claimed members shared a total of $100,000.
Ghana exceeded expectations at the 2026 FIFA World Cup by reaching the Round of 32 after entering the tournament as one of the lowest-ranked teams. The Black Stars recorded one win in four matches to reach the knockout stage for the first time in a decade.
