Ghana captain Portia Boakye was named Woman of the Match after the Black Queens drew 1-1 with Mali in their final Group D fixture at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Her composed leadership and defensive contribution helped Ghana withstand a difficult second half and secure a place in the quarter-finals.
The Black Queens entered the contest knowing that a victory would guarantee progress, while a draw could also be enough if their goal difference remained superior.
Ghana took the lead shortly before half-time when Evelyn Badu headed in Comfort Yeboah’s excellent cross during added time
