Asante Kotoko announced the signing of former captain Richard Boadu on Tuesday, confirming the return of the midfielder to the club following a successful completion of his medical examinations.
The 27-year old former Medeama SC star returns to the club after signing a two-year deal ahead of the 2026/2027 Ghana Premier League campaign, which starts in ten days. Boadu led Asante Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League title glory for the 2022/2023 season, and left to join Lybian side Al-Ahly Benghazi in 2023.
He made several appearances for Al-Ahly Benghazi and later joined another Lybian side, Al Tahaddy where he spent the 2024/2025 football season.
The return of Richard Boadu is expected to bring lots of remedies to the Asante Kotoko midfield in the coming season, considering what he is noted for, a commander in midfield exchanges.
Asante Kotoko will commence the new season in a fixture against new entrants Debibi United away from home, and new coach Eric Tinkler’s side goes into the season with respite as Boadu’s inclusion could make matters easier as they look forward to another league title glory.
