Former Ghana international Anthony Baffoe has reportedly rejected to be part of the members of the committee tasked by the Ghana Football Association and Sports ministry to recruit the next Black Stars head coach.
In October 2, 2026, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) named Baffoe to a high-profile five-member technical committee alongside Stephen Appiah,Faisal Chibsah, Agbesi Dzakpasu and Fred Pappoe to find a new head coach for the national team following Carlos Queiroz’s resignation.
However, Baffoe declined the appointment due to concerns regarding the broader approach to domestic football development and a lack of proper initial consultation. Ghanasoccernet reported.
He is understood to have since communicated his decision not to serve on the committee, although he remains available to support Ghana in other capacities. The committee was formed after a meeting between the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the GFA on Friday, October 2, following Carlos Queiroz’s departure.
It has been tasked with identifying, assessing and recommending a suitable coach for the Black Stars, with a report expected by Friday, October 9. Baffoe’s reported decision comes as Ghana works to appoint a new head coach after a difficult start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
