Nine (9) key players of Kumasi Asante Kotoko have failed to make the club’s trip to Sudan for the second phase of their pre-season training.
The Porcupines departed Ghana today to continue preparations ahead of the new football season after wrapping up the first phase of their pre-season training in Accra.
The key players who missed the trip include captain Abdul Ganiu Ishmael, Danlad Ibrahim, Samuel Boateng, Maxwell Agyemang, Charles Owusu, Etouga Mbella, George Mfege, Patrick Asmah and Richmond Lamptey
Meanwhile, Richmond Lamptey and other new players will fly out from the country to join their teammates tomorrow, Ghanasportspage.com can confirm.
The captain of the club, Abdul Ganiu Ishmael couldn’t make the trip due to personal issues with the management whiles Maxwell Agyemang and Mbella are under treatment to recover from injury.
Elsewhere, Danlad Ibrahim is also at the camp of the Black Galaxies as they prepare to face Nigeria in their final CHAN qualifier doubleheader.
Ghanasportspage.com can confirm that, the reasons why some of the aforementioned players couldn’t join the trip to Sudan are injury situations, lack of passports, and lack of vaccination cards. So the players who do not have passports were not allowed to trip, aside from the injury problems, others also don’t have vaccination cards.
The nine newly signed players of the club, Enoch Morrison, Steven Mukwala, Frederick Asare, Moise Poauty, Thomas Pele, Eric Serge Zeze, Ernest Opoku, Nicholas Osei Bonsu are among the squad for the trip.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko will will play a friendly game against Al Hilal Omdurman on Tuesday, 23rd August, 2022 and will play other friendly games in Sudan before they return to Ghana.
They are currently the reigning champions of the Ghana Premier League and they will hope to defend the title following the appointment of Burkinabe tactician, Seydou Zarbo as their new head coach as a replacement for Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum.
