Former Black Stars player, Nii Odartey Lamptey believes the Black Stars of Ghana will cause a surprise in the upcoming African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Ghana have been housed in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique. Ahead of the AFCON, there a lot of doubts about the team whether they will excel at the tournament considering the bad performance at the recent AFCON.
Howver, Odartey Lamptey says Ghana has a good team going into the AFCON and Chris Hughton is experienced enough to take the right decisions for the team to excel.
“I think from what I have seen so far, we have a very good team with an experienced coach. The coach is part of the team that went to the World Cup so he knows the team very well. ” He said in an interview with Sienu TV.
He added that many fans have their doubts on the team but he thinks the Black Stars will surprise a lot of people.
“People are doubting but I strongly believe that we will cause surprises in Ivory Coast.” He added.
Ghana will play their first game against Cape Verde on 14th January 2024 then clash with African giants Egypt on 18th January 2024 before wrapping up the group stage games on 22nd January against Mozambique.
